i think there could be 15 books written on that subject, what with 5 types of salmon and all their quirks and preferences. i took out a few videos from the library, they were informative, but time on the water i think is most important. i'm a rookie on the fraser too, and i have a healthy respect for that river and it's power. i used to fish with my dad for salmon over on the island in sooke but he's too long in the tooth now, and we caught plenty of salmon there. i can't afford to tow my runabout to the island, so i'll probably launch it at kilby around the end of august to the end of september and hone my less than stellar fishing skills on pinks. i hear they're relatively easy to catch, and that my bolster my confidence. now if i can just figure out how to drop the anchor from my non-walk-thru windshield....hmmmm
