Is pink roe any good for fishing?

During years of pink salmon run, pink salmon roe can be quite effective for coho salmon once pink salmon begin spawning in streams.

Also good for sturgeon when Pinks are in the water.

rotten and even fresh chunks of pinks are good for sturgeon LOL I love it when you see a sturgeon jump out of the water with an entire salmon in its mouth  frigging awesome to see

I have done very well with Pink roe for various fishes.
Good roe is good roe.

IMO pink roe is every bit as good as chum roe

pink roe CAN be just as good as any other roe. I find that it needs to be cured same day though or the eggs kinda crap out  with chum and other salmon roe its best to do it as fresh as possible but you can let it sit in the fridge for a day or two and it will still be fine. this doesnt seem to be the case for pink roe, at least thats what i have found. It also takes quite a few skeins of pink roe to get a decent amount of roe. 1 skein only yeilds a few chunks which can be as little as a few casts  I personally will normally take male pinks if they havent started to "hump" yet

I hope you are not talking about taking roe from male pinks

i thought what i said was obvios that i meant i rather retain male pinks instead of female ones. they have a bit more meat however once they start getting a pronounced hump then i will release them. I find keeping all females (which tons of people do) for the roe is silly because it takes so many to get a good amount of roe. I did this in '07 so i had lots of roe for springs and once i went fishing i only had enough for 2 outings  where as with a chum or spring 1 fish will yeild almost the same amount of roe.

I bonked to females.  Both about 4-5 lbs.  Produced just over a half pound of roe.

see thats exactly what im talking about. 2 fish and it wasnt even 1 pound of roe, seems sorta pointless right ?? 1 spring could yeild you a solid 2 lbs or even more depending on size and the roe is of better usage quality.
