For the lower tidal Fraser, incoming is best as it helps them move upstream.  That being said, you might be able to catch them at any time, but I have found most of my luck to be on the incoming flood tide.

Went to Derby for a couple of hours tonight....  pretty quiet except for some Trout sucking up what few flies there were on the surface.  I was wishing I had the 4wt with me.     Had a couple of nibbles but didn't hook into anything.

I was down at Poplar bar for an hour or so and witnessed the same, there was a lot more bugs there though and a lot of trout it seemed (also wishing I brought my fly rod). Only saw about three fish of any size jump while I was there, but no solid bites.

Most of the small fish that jump in the Tidal Fraser River are in fact coarse fish (chub, pikeminnow, shiner), the odd ones are of course also (cutthroat) trout.

Rodney is right, when my dad and I go sturgeon fishing I usually bring my 4wt and chuck out dry flies and nymphs, all i would get are pikeminnow and chub. Once I got an odd cutthroat.   The pikeminnow and cutthroat can get big, but like in Rodney's video, they are "small but plentiful"

Caught a nice bright pink near chilliwack yesterday.

I participated in the sockeye C&R study yesterday.  The control group that were caught by net had quite a few pinks mixed in with the sockeye.

that pink was great alwaysfishn, but how about the bycatch, eh? nothing like a full six pack of heinekens floating down the river !! gave chse immediately and like always, we like to split the catch!!! awesome.
