Stu, those are indeed the finest pink salmon specimen judging by how silver they are. The males, even caught in the lowest region of the Tidal Fraser River, typically lose their silver shine quite quickly.

I just received news of a chinook salmon in the 15lb mark caught this evening despite of a very slow outing for pink salmon by a regular around Richmond. With the fall Fraser Valley white chinook salmon run now entering the system, be prepared to possibly encounter one if you put in the time.

pnKroK, take a look at the first 20 or so posts in this thread regarding methods on catching pink salmon in the Tidal Fraser. Your best option is to cast lures. Barfishing is not a good option for pink salmon in the Tidal Fraser, especially now that there is a bait ban in effect for salmon fishing.

What's even more sad is tomorrow is my last day to fish after work, since after that, I'll be tied up with other things and probably won't have time to head out again during this pink run, meaning tonight was the only night I could have caught a fish with my dad, since tomorrow he has plans already.

Yeah, a little bird told me that you had the honour of netting that fish today. He should have given half of the fish to you for getting wet.

Personally I don't specifically target chinook salmon down in Richmond, simply because catches are rare. I just try to catch as many pinks as possible and perhaps encounter one by chance.

Got one this afternoon in New West. The fishing slowed down quite a bit. One man and his son caught a bright jack spring, but noone else got fish to my knowledge in the afternoon. I lucked out on this buck.

Just in case I hook a Chinook in the Fraser (tidal portion), is the current regulation that the length must by a minimum of 62cm, or 30cm?   And the daily limit is 4 fish?

I tried reading the regulations online and the updates, but this newbie is getting a little confused.  Thanks.

you're allowed 4 springs, only 1 can be over 62cm

Fished the south arm on the Delta side last with the wife. it was very slow till about 6:30pm and a decent school when by. Between me and the wife, 9 hook up and 4 fishes landed.

Went out this morning in the Fraser 8-10am and got nothing.  I notice that most fish were caught using buzz bombs.  I have no luck with spinners so far?  Do you need to add weight to the spinner or tie it straight to the main line?

I use spinners almost exclusively and always have good luck with them. The nice thing is you can retrieve it much slower than a spoon. I dont use a swivel with a leader. Just straight to the spinner.

I have had no luck using spinners. I'm sticking to spoons.

Depends on the weight of the spinner.
