Tidal Fraser River, August 19th 2009
« on: August 19, 2009, 05:37:18 PM »

Went against what I told myself and headed out again to the muddy Fraser. Had a 3-4 foot sturgon flipping infront of me for a while which is a first for me. Saw around ten pinks surface again and this time one of them was on my line until the line gave way with my favorite spoon which has caught me many pinks. Visiblity was about 6 inches so use big spoons and hope you get lucky. There in there but you have to work for them. Good luck :)

When flyfishing the lower river, is it worth having a boat out to fish the entire width of the river, or are the fish generally in pretty tight to shore?
the fish are generaly close to shore and a boat would work better for fly fishing

We were out again this afternoon too. Not much to report, except only a couple of pinks surfacing. Our fishing buddy Vince hooked a big one, just not the right species. That's ok, this one went back home with him anyway as his family enjoys eating pikeminnows. :)

fished the incoming tide yesterday morning on the South Arm and only saw a few jumpers (on the other side of the river - I hate it when that happens!).  I did catch a decent sized pikeminnow, and the guy fishing next me landed a 4 or 5 foot sturgeon - it leaped right in front of me completely out of the air - it was awesome to see!  Like everyone else is saying, its still a little early for the humpies
