Apollo, just wondering how you did bass fishing?
Went to fishtrap and caught a couple. It was OK they were bigger than the ones I caught at Mill lake.

Apollo,
Can I ask you where and what you used in fishtrap? I tried for an hour yesterday on my way home for work and all I caught was weeds. I was behind the baseball diamonds by a little bridge.

Bass are absolutely delicious, my parents retired to Salt Spring Island and there residence is lake front on St Mary's lake, and there are big bass in there. The first time I caught a decent size bass and took it home for breakfast for me and pop, upon our first bite we just looked at each other in amazement. We were very impressed.

I was always curious how they taste. Now I am more stoked than ever to give bass fishing a try. After the Pink run that is.

Thanks for the warning. Is there anywhere around (within 3 - 4 hour drive) where you would recommend going and the fish are edible. Looking to take my son camping and thought it might be a good time to try bass fishing.

There used to be nice bass in Freeman Lake in Garibaldi just up the road from Lucille Lake, but I have not been in there any farther than Lucille Lake for years. However, bass being as hardy as they are gives me no reason to anticipate conditions are any different.

I've eaten smallmouth from a lake on the island where they feed almost exclusively on crayfish and small cutthroat, they were actually pretty good.  I've tried largemouth before and was not impressed with the texture or flavor.  I ended up feeding the rest to my aquarium fish and they quite enjoyed it.  I guess as with any fish its about how they are prepared....raw was probably not the best idea  ;) ;D
