Caught on a rodney special
Good to see that it has been producing for others, because it sure has not produced for me.
While I have been able to find fish since two weeks ago, hooking and landing them has been a challenge.
Finally there were signs of much bigger schools of fish emerging during the incoming tide. I managed to snap a rod to start the afternoon, so had to settle with the ultralight pikeminnow rod. Sure enough, as luck would have it, I managed to hook three and missed numerous other bites. All three fish got off, not surprisingly, since I had a hard time embedding that thick shank hook into the fish with the thin rod. The second fish stayed on for quite awhile, almost spooled me before it popped the hook out. I was quite confident that it was a chinook judging by how fast it was peeling line off the reel. My UK guest Iwan managed to hook three fish as well, but all came off after brief fights. Fishersak had to settle the day with a pikeminnow, but at least he landed the only fish of the day.
Here they come!
