Craigslist usually has a couple people that rent out their private boats at decent rates.  Depends on the size of boat you want to run.

Sewells Marina has dozens of rental boats but if you're headed to Sandheads you need to spend some dough to rent a 17' unit and hope the wind stays down.

There's another rental place on Granville Island but they don't encourage fishing.

Oh! Thank you for that advice! I didn't even think about the size and wind. I'm considering renting the boat for fishing in a few weeks. If I rent a 15 ft, where are good places around there? (I don't want to go too far out, but I'd love to try and catch some salmon, any salmon)

In a few weeks most Salmon will have headed up local rivers to spawn/die and then there'll be only small overwintering Springs to catch in English Bay-maybe some Chums if you can convince them to bite/are in the right place@ the right time.

Another very big maybe for Springs in front of the cap depending how much it rains/if they get any back at all which isn't looking too likely.

I suggest you find somebody with a boat to take you out to go fishing, or else charter or split a charter if you want to fish from a boat.

Friends with boats would be much safer than renting a boat.  It's hard to operate a boat and fish at the same time.

Otherwise find places to fish from shore.
