This is my first year fishing in the river for salmon. I have had alot of fun catching pinks and now I am hooked. What comes up the river next? Thanks

Springs,Coho's and chums

The fun has really just begun for anglers in this part of the province. Local tributaries of the Fraser River will see coho and chum salmon returning between early October and early December. The Chilliwack River will be good first, followed by some the tributaries on the north side of the Fraser River between Mission and Harrison. The tapering of the salmon season in November also means the arrival of trout and char, which will be feeding on salmon eggs. A simple "match the hatch" will get you into these fish without much problem, as long as you can find the fish. The trout and char fishery is not only limited to the small tributaries, but also the Fraser River. I have quite a bit of success in targeting these fish by simply casting lures or flies.

Lakes in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley will also be stocked once again in early October. Stocking usually continues until the end of November, depending on how cold it gets.

rod you fish for norther pikeminnows are they edible.

what are you guys talking about there is nothing left after pinks. you all should just stay home LOL more river for me then  dont forget if your brave enough to defend against the cold of winter there is also steelhead to be had. Alot tougher to find normally but absolute gorgeous fish

The trout (cutthroat trout mostly, and perhaps some rainbow trout) and char (bull trout) fishery in the Fraser River does not stop until freshet begins in late April/early May so you can enjoy it throughout the winter months too. That being said, fishing does taper off in December and January.

The most enjoy part of the year in the Lower Mainland is between November and April in my opinion, because fish are more scattered out and the hunting aspect of fishing plays a big role in an angler's success.
