Had a chance to spend a couple of hours fishing Fawn Lake Sunday morning.  My 11 year old and I managed to hook 6 in less then two hours.  We kept three for the frying pan, 12", 16" and nice 18" that my son caught, the bigger one almost taking the rod out of the boat while we were netting another fish.   Green sedges and green & yellow flat fish, both trolled on sinking lines did the trick. 

I saw someone wiith a nice bow that had to be almost 36".  I was sad to see him kill it instead of releasing to be caught another day.

Well if thats the case your 12,16 and 18" must of been 6,10 and 12" because 36" is unheard of and I've fished Fawn for years. 36" For the interior is actually unheard of. Maybe Kootenay Lake though.

There have certainly been 36" fish out of Sheridan. This one (almost 16lbs) from 2009 looks about that length.



I've never fished Fawn so cannot comment.

36" is very possible (though unlikely and incredibly impressive), especially in that part of our province.  Sheridan produces some HUGE bows, and just because you haven't caught or seen a fish that big doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

That said, we're all anglers here and prone to a bit of exaggeration once in awhile... 36 inches is probably an overestimation.

Fawn lake was stocked with the Kootenai strain of Gerrard's. I saw some big ones years back in there. Well over ten pounds. Catching them was another thing, although October is usually the month you get the big ones in the Cariboo.

Give me a break, I measured our fish for my son when I got back to the cottage so I had had some reference for size.  But yes, it's not like I swam over and measured the guy's fish.  I was about 50 feet from his boat when he held it up and it looked twice as large as our biggest fish.  I couldn't believe how big it was.  But did I measure it, no.  The point is that there is some big fish in that little lake and its worth a try for those who are up in the area.

Anyway, good luck to the fellow who's heading up there, I hope you do well.

Fawn is known to produce some big fish in the 8 to 12lb range from time to time.
