So the announcement that Barack Obama gets a Nobel peace prize came as a bit of a surprise. Not that I don't think hes a decent leader and has goals that might result in better living conditions in many parts of the globe... but perhaps a bit premature as we haven't seen anything accomplished yet.

Perhaps its for taking a more reconciliatory approach towards Iran... That prize isn't handed out by idiots, so props to Obama.

i havent seen anything in ways of peace  done by him yet ? but guess the award has to go to someone

Oh for sure, props to Obama, but I don't think he has earned it really, and from his speech, I think he was also very surprised...   I also doubt that the people who voted for him are idiots, but it would be interesting to know their motives, as it seems unclear for now.  My thoughts are that it is more likely a political move to get him to move on some of the issues he is key on... but only time will tell if he deserves a "preemptive" award.

This clarifies matters a bit for me (below).  I think its one of those instances where the prize is given to someone who is on the right track, but hasn't yet accomplished whatever it is that they set out to do.  Fair enough.  Here's hoping he follows through.

What has Obama done as far as promoting peace goes? He hasn't even done anything yet. He hasn't even entered into any peace negotiations in the middle east!.
Deserving of it....I dont think so.
Look at those who have won it in the past....
Martin Luther King...nuff said
Roosevelt.....peace treaty between Japan and Russia.....
Thomas Woodrow Wilson.....Forming the League of Nations.....
Barack Obama.....sorry drawing a blank on this one.

for NOT starting two wars in the middle east. For NOT torturing prisoners. For NOT making Americans more disliked.

The reasons are plenty if you have an open mind.

Like many other people I was surprised and shocked that he won the Nobel Prize. He's been in power for 9 months and what has he done to deserve the award ? Is there peace in the Middle East ?Is there  peace in Iraq, Afghanistan ? As much as I respect Obama, there's got to be more worthy nominees.

Its sad to see how poor the media in CN and USA have swayed so many minds. You have to look for the truth. As an investigator for truth over the last 20 years, Obama is either totally incompetent or trying to destroy the economy of the US. As a US citizen I get the real news.  His friends are terrorists and the only reason I see is that they are trying to keep him from expanding the current war efforts. He has downgraded the US on every speech except for the Olympic speech while the speech was still only about he and his wife, not about the games. Healthcare was control of money and socialism and dictatorship.   He has lied about everything he said he would do and has no answers. 787 Billion as hand outs leaving each of us with $235k in debt a peice. CN is less than that.  One banking group (AG) got bailed out and each employee averaged $900k a peice and their stock went up 33%.  Banking industry isn't making loans. We are around 10% unemployment with no future. If banks don't loan - it will get worse. Its an idiot group that has already given the award to two other idiots, Carter and Gore (Global warming with his own destoying the environment while there are record cold snaps in the US).
Please listen to Obamas speech and he states why he doesn't deserve it and he accepted as a message only. He admitted he hasn't done anything.
If the US doesn't stay safe, CN might not either. Your minister had an assasination attempt and they got the people. They were going to blow up one of your facilities or the bldg he was in. It made your news but should have been longer in the headlines.

Bush had wanted to investigate Fanny Mae and requested or stated it 18 times. Barney Frank and the democrats controlled congress the last 2 years of Bush'es presidency. The moderates basically voted with the democrats. To continue to blame him after almost 3 yrs will catch up to them.  Bush overspent but also had an attack, recession when he took office, and continue ramping up to fight terrorism. In contrast, Obama wants to reduce our nucs and has killed multiple defense contracdts that would protect the US, and by association Canada. I'm able to listen to actual recordings or what senators and reps state. You can electronically manipulate some but not what I'm hearing.
We should fish and fish some more.
