Has anyone been to Kanaka lately? Just curious if it would be worth checking out.

Also, what kind of fish run through there? And are these runs of significant size?

these is coho in that creek, not many but a few. limited access for most areas. also check the regs before you head there about limits and where the boundaries are.

It is not open for retention right now. IMO when the system is closed to retention its best to leave it alone. Your opinion may differ but with plenty of other choices out there......

Was there today for the event they had on at the fish fence on 240th. They were showing the Chum and Pinks and mentioned that Coho would be running up soon.
DFO site says 1 hatchery coho daily from Nov 1-30.

can i just let you in on something about the Kanaka coho. You might find some fish when it is open for retention however i find its tough going trying to find ones that arent getting dark already or trying to start up redds at this time. Please if you go there watch where your wading and dont harrass these fish. try finding areas where your seeing brighter fish, moving fish and such as to actually catch biting fish 

We walked this river last year for a long distance even with a couple sketchy spots and only found 3 nice fish. I think this was 2nd weekend of November last year  I was a little surprised and their condition to say the least.



there are much better places to go where they get more coho and can handle some pressure. Im sure you must know of where i mean  and its not to far away either.

Thanks for the help guys. If it's closed for retention, then I will leave the fish be. If it was Coho I was after I would definately try somewhere else - I haven't tried my luck with them either. I guess this is the best time to start, though...
