The closest I got to a fish, was the sound of pinks getting a back massage from my motors prop.Tried trolling the Sumas which was cow dung in colour. On the bright side managed to haul in at least $60 worth of good floats. Well worth the effort.

I knew the river would be a blown mess on Sunday but I just had to get out there. As I got to the river things did not look good, usually Id just get back in the car and come back when the river was in better shape, but I had nothing else to do so I thought Id give it a try anyway and see if I could hook something in the mud. I thought about some spots that would give me a good chance in the high water and decided to head up river. I got to my spot, and started fishing a back channel that was only inchs deep before the rain, but no luck.  After this spot I moved into a deep slow flow and casted and retreive the biggest Koho spoon I had, but no luck there. After almost 3 hours and no fish, I went for a walk looking for a path where fish were moving. I came across a spot where I watched some fish passing through and just ahead of this spot there was a nice slow slick behind a boulder. I baited the hook with big gob of roe, set the float to 10 inchs, and started casting. 10 minutes later, float down and fish on. I beached the 8 lb wild hoe within a minute of being hooked, and now Im a believer of dirty water fishing.

I found 2 cleardrifts and 4 DNE's along with a rare cork float Dion likes today.

I was out Sunday afternoon as well -  fishing just above On The Way.  There were sure lots of fish moving along the edges but none taking anything I was offering.  I must have seen 150 fish come single file around the boulder below me, then head up past the one above me with a minute or so. Tried Procured roe, spinners, spoons, short floating, short leaders, every colour of wool I had in the dispenser (trimmed it 3 or 4 different ways) - NADA. 

They came up and laughed at me every once in a while but seemed keen on getting home.  That lot was starting to get a bit rosy, but Very Nice Coho!!

A group of us tried the upper river as well. Same results. We tried everything and not a single bite. Water was just too brown. Like fishing in coffee with cream.

I only got one drenan Chris so your doing a good job of finding them. Mind you it was my favorite weight 11 grams. 14 DNE's and I only took a few other ones. After a high water floats are easy pickens.

I have had good fishing trolling lures in the brown stuff but the current was pretty brutal Sunday.

Nice work on the drennan. I broke one on the rocks today after missing a fish but thats OK as I have about 3 doz. left.
