Quote
Through the night Wednesday we had people working at the farm site to stop up the holes and reverse any ongoing problem with the escape," said Clare Backman, Marine Harvest's environmental compliance officer.

I think she means someone swimming around underwater and shaking a box of fish food calling "Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy" just like a person does with their cat when it's lost outside/hiding under the bushes in the yard.  ::)

In truth nothing at all will happen.

The Federal Govt-who are now supposed to be in charge of these clown shows-will get a report from the company and will then file their own report telling us "It's all been looked after"

Your title might better be "So it happened AGAIN..."

Similar happened in July last year

Nothing will happen. The government will just write it off as a risk of doing business.

-I don't get it, why is this not considered an environmental disaster or at the least the company should be fined for illegal stocking.
-I'm not 100% against this industry, I have no problem with spending research money on development of closed containment systems.
--We were told that Atlantic's were perfect as even in the rare (although not so rare it seems) escapes the Atlantic's could not breed and would not disrupt local naturals. It has now yet again been reported that juvenile Atlantic's have been found in three BC rivers.
--As to the spill of fish, when a tanker truck or train crashes and contaminants escape we don't just say oh the financial loss of the material is enough of a deterrent so why when fish escape is it that the loss of fish is touted as such a financial loss that no other actions are taken.
--as our insurance goes up with each crash so should fines for violations of this nature, each infraction should be recorded and the fine increased up to and including shutting down the facility. As one company owns 90% of these farms violations from each farm owned by the company should also be assesed to the parent company similar to a WCB claim.

Not the NATIVE fish though.  Might as well bring PIKE in... they live quite healthily in most lakes... less maintenance than those pesky trout ;)
