Chilliwack River, November 5th 2009
« on: November 05, 2009, 06:35:38 PM »

I fished the mid river this morning. Landed a jack coho and a number of strong but dark chums. Still some bright coho showing themselves, and quite a few chum around but its obvously slowing down. Good action when the fresh fish are there, but quieter times in between.  Probably my last trip to the Vedder, and maybe even salmon fishing this fall.

It seems like I landed way more jack coho this year than usual - got one or more almost every time I went out. I wish I did as well on the mature ones.  ;)

Did anyone else find that they were getting more coho jacks than mature?

Oh, and at the end of my morning fishing I stoppped by Tamahi for a look. COs were out checking people and had a look at my coho. Nice to see them out.

Have to agree with you, way more jacks this year.  I've never caught so many in all the years of fishing the vedder. One day I was into 8.

I only managed 2 adult coho out of the vedder this season but I landed at least 12 jacks.  It certainly seems that there were a ton of them.

The number of Jacks this year should mean a blockbuster year next year for Coho.

The jack returning this year are an indication of the population for next year's return.
A certain percentage return 1 year early as jacks.
