« on: December 01, 2009, 10:25:17 AM »

--anyone use with success fly line floatant or cleaning lubes on mono or braid?

You could grease the line to make it "float".  This will prevent the line from breaking the surface tension.  Any fly shop shoudl have it.

I can't see it working unless you can cast with no weight/lure/spoon...just a hook ???

Yeah I used to use those line cleaner pads to get my mono to float.  Works like a charms when fishing with a bobber. Better hook sets if your line is on the surface.

I don't think I would try anything not ment for fishing line as it might weaken the line.

Fly fishermen use it on mono leaders, so I don't think its an issue.

--I was thinking for bobber fishing,  I've not tried this myself but was think it might work.
--Expecting that could pick the line off the water quicker and mend similar to a fly line while reducing the effect on the float drift.
--Many modern lines are super thin , I used larger diameter line to get it to float, was thinking this treatment might help float thinner diameter line plus give less pick up resistance on larger diameter line.

--I figured someone here would have tried it... didn't want to grease up a line and end up throwing it out. (recycle of course)
