Fishing in Princeton?
« on: December 02, 2009, 07:32:48 PM »

On Saturday, me and a couple of buddies are going to Princeton to visit a friend of ours who is there for work this month, and we would like to leave earlier so that we could try out some fishing. Is anyone familiar with the area and it's waters, and what kind of fishing we might be able to do? I know it's quite a bit colder there so I'm hoping it isn't out of the question.

There is the Similkameen River, but I don't know how the fishing is at this time of year.

--If you end up fishing the similkameen and aren't shy I need some pictures for local paper article.

--Good populations of resident trout and whitefish.
--should be able to use egg pattern fly for whitefish or other artificial
--wild rainbow release between HWY#3bridge at Princeton and Hwy#3 bridge 31km below Princeton
--access along both sides of the river some land is posted private along paved highway but lots of spots you'll see to safely pull off highway.

--bait ban April 1-Oct31.... some use maggots for whitefish.. drop shot or bobber

There's the Tulameen as well. Doubt there will be much activity with the rainbows, however whitefish could be better.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I didn't get a chance to go to Princeton on Saturday. Our buddy surprised US and showed up back here on Friday, leaving me to stick to the local flows this weekend. This gives me a bit more time to do some research on the Princeton area flows.
