Redington CPX or Simms Freestone?
« on: December 19, 2009, 05:50:42 PM »

I am thinking of getting either the Simms Freestones, or the Redingtons CPX but not sure which to go with. What would be your pick and why? Consider Warrenty coverage, quality and durability. Would like to get some thoughts on this. Thanks.

Also would consider another wader, but in the price range of 250- 300.

I've never had a problem with Simms waders.  Haven't tried the freestones but had some Redington waders which eventually leaked pretty bad.

I've had the Redington's.  They fit me perfectly but started leaking after a couple of months.  Got another pair, over the counter and the other pair was sent back under warranty.  The second pair started leaking even sooner than the first pair.  Got a pair of Simm's G3's and no problems since.  If you can consider spending the extra to get the G3's or even G4's.  Lots of money but well worth it.  And, within the first year, you can send it back to Simms for a free checkup/inspection and they will do most minor repairs at no cost.

my dad has the Freestones and likes them. so far no issues, I bought the higher end L2's and had leaky feet inside 3 months, had them repaired and then they sat as backups until this fall and after 6 trips starting leaking bad again so they have been fixed again for the last time.

I have bad experiences with Simms & Bare waders. I bought some from Cabelas and they went 2 full seasons before leaks. im waiting on my second pair now and they should be here soon  ;D

I could suggest to go that route if you dont mind buying across the line. If you watch you can get the waders for less than $200 plus exchange. best way is to have them shipped to a US address like Package Express or something and cross to pick up. doing this will save you brockerage fees which are expansive, it will normally give you free shipping also  ;)

They leak and have been gooped up plenty but is time to find some new ones.
Anyone know who makes them in the shape of a bowling ball with two twigs sticking out? ;D

Went from North Rivers to the Redingtons to Simms.  Need to get another pair for backup and when I send these one in for servicing though.
