hey im  just wondering what are some of your favourate flies to use on the vedder for steelhead????

in your first couple years concentrate on as little patterns as possible, just vary the size of them and colour of course.

the top two i would go with:

General Practitioner

MOAL(mother of all leeches) / bunny leech

the second one is super easy to tie. the GP takes a little bit more skill but not much  ;)

"Big Black," designed in Alaska for steelhead and is one of the best steelhead patterns I have found. It is also the best all around leach patterns I have found.

i usually only fish intruders but have been known to chuck bunny leeches, heres my fav intruders & bunny leeches

Just kidding.....I've got to start tying tube flies.  Have you ever thought of a way not to lose the fly if you did hook up onto something if your leader broke at the knot on the hook?  Wonder if a bobber stopper just up from the hook would work....or do you think it's worth the bother?
