I think also there were many better pics than the ones put up.
I personally would almost put my carp shot last amongst the pics I posted, most people dont find them very appealing.
Too bad it wasn't possible to elect the 10 members and ask them what pics of theirs was their fav to put up.
Btw Pat is running away with it, and I too am glad to make the top 10

perhaps the contest in the future should have the members of FWR choose the top 10 photo's , I think there were many better photo's to choose from in the fish porn thread.

Personally I like your Carp photo and put it in with my top 3. I wont vote for dead fish pics I dont find them appealing. If I had to pick just one it would be the first one PatAV's photo. I also voted for Snapperheads photo and Nick78's because its different and its a small kid with a big fish.

Stop whining and go catch some fish (and post some pictures). I've read enough whining to not want to run this poll next year. 

"Dead fish are ugly"

"Why is a picture of a carp in the top 10"   

"Dereke had better pictures then that dead coho"

"Why does one person get to pick the top ten?!"

I typed out a long response explaining why we don't choose a monthly best picture, why the members don't get to select the top ten, and how I chose the pictures. Then I realized it wouldn't matter what I typed. You'd find something else to nitpick about.

Relax Dion... I made a couple of those comments you mentioned but none were directed at you as a stab at your selections. You picked ten photos which you thought were the best of the best. I accept that. Nothing wrong with most of these comments on here. You have been on these forums long enough to know that it didnt matter which ten photos you put up there that you were going to get comments like these. Even if they were truly the ten best their still would have been these posts.


BTW when you have 3 kids, running a business, a wife etc etc lets see how many rod days you get I WISH I could be fishing!!!

I wasn't directing that post at anyone in particular. I do realize that I would get criticized no matter my choices, it is just extremely frustrating to put effort into something like this just to get complaints like those posted and received privately. I ran the original Fish Porn Thread, I found sponsors, I organized prizes, I flipped through 30+ pages of pictures and posts, I chose ten pictures (which isn't as easy as it sounds), and I ran the poll. I'll also be the one distributing the prizes once the winners are selected. This isn't for any benefit of my own. I can't win, and I'm not getting paid. I'm starting to realize why Rodney is such a crotchety old grump.

Moderating is a thankless job. Its also not easy as you hear mostly negative comments directed at you. Your doing fine buddy. I have no complaints about the choices. I am glad you created this. Dont worry if people are bitter as they might be bitter about everything in general.

 Pat is deserved of the photo that won for sure. Snapperhead sweet pic! Thanks for the votes despite the controvesy.  Dion I agree with your posts on the subject completey.  Just a suggestion becasuse there is alot of babysitting that the mods have to do on all of the fishing sites out there PM them and maybe your suggestions/criticisms will be heard. My 2 pennies, thanks again!

Thanks very much Dion and the whole FWR family for putting this great contest together and for selecting the pic of my steelie to the top 10, very cool.

Nothing gets my blood boiling like a good report or some killer fish porn on one of those lost days when I cannot be on the flow. For this reason I try my best to share some good porn and even a decent report once in a while.

Great photos and congrats to all those in the competition who took the time to capture and share them.

Have to thank Pete as well for working the magic with his camera on that snowy day, cold ones on me next time our paths cross on your home river.
