Vancouver Island, January 11th 2010
« on: January 12, 2010, 10:08:47 PM »

Went fishing somewhere on the island  ;) Fished all day for 3 days. Could have been better but the rain came pouring down over night to ruin the trip.  :-\
Water came up high and the runs were very challenging to fish. But! sure enough, we did see and catch fish. Finally caught my first of the year, but not on the Vedder. Hopefully next time, we'll have better weather on our side  :D
I'll shut up now. Here are some pictures for all you guys, and no I did not bring my 5wt ;) Cheers

Great fish and pics. Congrats. Thanks guys. Oop, looking at the first two pics I thought it was Rodney posting with the fish.  ;D

Used to fish the Stamp and the Gold and did quite well even from shore. But the river in the background looks smallish compared to those two, kind of like the Coquitlam or the Alouette. Looks like the Big Q. ;)

Nice fish Squirrel! Every time I come over here to work I am the harbinger of doom. Working in Tofino at the moment and everything was looking brown and raging in Port Alberni on Tuesday. Was hoping to take Friday to fish the Stamp but with 50mm again tomorrow its going to be a bust!!!

How many fish did you guys actually hook?  Due to the little nubby misclipped adipose, the top 3 pics all look like the same fish to me?

Looks like one to me
You'll be suprised on how many fish up there are miss clipped.
 :D
Every fish I've seen up there were miss clipped
When I landed my first one it got me really confused  ??? so I bonked it for it didn't look natural
luckly I was right :D

Nice to see a report from the Island, good fish too!  Shame your trip was a little dampned by the weather.
I heard some mixed reports from the Gold last weekend, I tried myself for a short session to no avail.
One thing I would say though Squirrel is that if you are unsure about a fish, you shouldn't be bonking it.  I'm not one to harp on about that kind of thing, but please just be aware.
Sure sounds like you guys ad a great session though. Tight lines to all.  :)
