Since I have no school next Friday, I'm thinking about going sturgeon fishing with a few friends if the weather cooperates.
Do you guys think it's worth heading out?

Sure especially if the weather stays warm.

The bite will be very very light/soft so you need to really pay attention and do some guessing.

with the warm winter we have had so far its definatly still worth it. been out once so far  this month and got 3 fish to the boat nothing notably huge but some healthy 4 footers

i'm thinking about going sturgeon fishing in the next couple weeks. do i need a sturgeon license if i fish them near mission?

if u fish chilliwack side of mission bridge yes u will need a sturgeon license.if u fish the misson raceway  side u just need a saltwater license

Many of us who fish sturgeon extensively leave them alone from December to February due to these fish have basically no feed in the system and they go into a mild form of hibernation with the colder water...... there has been talk of actually closing down the season for this period of time......

So if you do fish them now, please get them in as fast as possible so all there stanima isn't lost..... also the fight this time of year is rather sluggish.....

One thing about sturgeon fishing at this time of year, is that you WILL foul hook a good number of the fish you hook. The common theory behind this is that they are not actively feeding and so when they find a piece of food they will sit on it in an effort to 'save it for later'.
