Fisheries Minister Pied!
« on: January 25, 2010, 12:30:30 PM »

Although I simply don't agree with the protester's rant regarding the seal hunt, there are a host of reasons I can agree this Department's Top Dawg should be pied for

Story & Video here: http://www.cbc.ca/politics/story/2010/01/25/burlington-shea-pie-100125.html

Cheers,

Sneaky, juvenile tactics might let you vent all the frustration for a few seconds, they do not help your cause, instead they only further discredit the organization that you represent and hinder any progress in changes.

Rodney-Can you  tell me-what's sneaky about standing up in public and giving it  to someone?

Your post shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of political protest, PETA once again got it's name in the press/made a Canadian Cabinet Minister look like a laughing stock and an imbecile, PETA has reaped major points for this.

I say around 100 of us go to one of these and each of us give her a pie in a line, one after another.  ::)  :P
Then credit it to FWR, bet Rodney would love that  ;D ;D ;D

That was awesome.  :D Sorrry Rod I only agree with you 50%. The other 50% says pie these POS! They don't do enough and they suck the tit of the fat cow above them. Put someone up there with the welfare of people and enviroment in mind and I'll stand infront of them and take the pieing. How bad could it be to be paid to eat pie anyway :o

She wanted the Canadian Olympic team to wear seal fur in their outfits.  wtf.   ::)

her and the people she represents would use california condor feathers if it equalled "good economics".

--I can't agree with physical assult.
--This may seem minor because we now know the outcome. What if the minister was allergic to milk products this could have turned nasty.
--Some countries people have used acid.

--If these type of actions continue there will be airport type security and no public access for meaningful discussion, just a taped recording of a message.

There is only one group I can think of that would take all forms of fishing away from everyone in one foul swoop, and that group is peta.
I am amazed  to see any form of support for them on this thread from such avid long time fishers.  Having said that, I do understand the frustration but I am with Rod on his post.

Good points skaha.

Classic.

I love that we, as Canadians, pie our politicians.

Former prime minister Jean Chretien 2000
Jean Charest got it in April 2003
Former Alberta premier Ralph Klein 2003
Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach 2007 (failed attempt)
Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier 2007

I wonder who will be next to add to the list....

I don't support pita one bit. They kill more animals than most. But I am a support of pie. People act like this is the first pieing ever. Get over it . She has and she supports the seal hunt even more now which I don't have a problem with so long as its a quick kill which unfortunatley its not alot of the time and some of these sealers know that and don't care. So .... what do ya do ? Pie everyone !!

Apparently, I saw the video yesterday hours after it happened. It was never aired or reported on Canadian television or Internet media (CBC, CTV, or Global TV) as it is just too embarassing, especially when the Olympics is happening around the corner.  As the news spread of this incident, I believe CBC was the first to report it on their website, late last night.
