Actually this was from a couple of months ago. It only happened once so I just casually snapped a photo, thinking that it would be like that all the time.
Wintertime... spring they pair off and summer... who knows.
Do you know where all the juncos have gone? We haven't seen any juncos or song sparrows in the backyard for a couple of weeks now. Nina thinks the seeds that we bought are poisonous.
Juncos are at higher elevations. By summertime they'll be flitting around at 7000' Song sparrows are in and about but also busy making little song sparrows.
By far my most common customer now is the Pine Siskin (they could go north any time now!) and the goldfinches. Some housefinches too, but the chickadees are all busy doing the "birds and the bees"
