I made my first trip out to the Vedder this season yesterday morning for around 7am. Drove over KWB and saw about 15 cars/trucks parked on the side and a bunch of anglers already out on the water. I decided to move on to quieter waters and avoid the eventual crowd. My first stop was not too far up the river from the Vedder crossing, the water had about a foot to a foot and a half visibility, a little cloudy. I worked my way up the river throwing jensen eggs with yarn and pink worms...nothing. While working my way back down the river towards my car I saw someone hook into a fish on the other side of the river, fly rod, but unfortunately for him he lost it as he brought it close to the bank. My next stop was a bit lower on the river. More people here but after a small hike down the river I found some peace wading out to some center islands. I worked my way down the river and had a bite but failed to set my hook, a little too slow on the draw. I thought at first it was a snag but I had passed my rig through there 4 times without snagging on anything. That was my only chance of the day. Across the river saw a guy land a hatchery steelhead, probably around 10 pounds.. nice chrome looking fish. I packed it in around 3pm, went back to my car to find my trunk popped out and tossed around. Nothing was missing, as far as I could tell, but I was pretty choked.
Hoping to get out there again on my next days off
