Chilliwack River, April 3rd 2010
« on: April 03, 2010, 08:17:33 PM »

Nice way to break in the new license and steely tag!
Got into a couple fish, one of which I managed to land and have a couple pictures taken.
It fell for a single plastic egg(those with a wiggly tail) on the second cast by a submerged log somewhere in the mid river.

It put up a good fight, but the hookup was solid and I wasn't letting him go anywhere but to the beach.
Tadpole's dog Zulu was the first to congratulate me! :D

Here's the gentle release, facing upstream:

It was a weird day, with lots of winter mixed in with the spring. Lots of snow in the mountains, and the wind was howling most of the day. We even got some ice rain.
Visibility in the mid river about a foot. Much clearer in the upper, but void of fish there (at least for us).

Happy Easter and tight lines in the new fishing season.  :)

was quite the day out on the flow my second trip steelheading and nothing to show, every where i went there were fish being caught... is steelheading more of a luck thing like right place at the right time than all the knowledge, skill and equipment? but none the less it sure was nice to get out and explore the river from top to bottom... checked out the hatchery for the first time and i have to say its good to see that the large amount of money we all pay to fish  in this province is going to good use...  is steelheading more of a luck game, like right place at the right time than all the knowledge, skill and equipment?

10% of the anglers catch 90% of the fish, i found that to be very true this year. Takes alot of skill to consistantly hook into fish.

hes hooked and wants to make a trip out there sunday... quick question will all this rain that we are about to get blow out the river and make fishing difficult? or will more fish come in and move through out the river?
