I have abunch of roe in my freezer too. It's cured though.


Today I went out and gave sturgeon fishing a go for the first time. Within the first hour i hooked one and lost it after a few shakes and then 15 minutes later got another one on which I landed. Nothing too big but a good start to sturgeon fishing. My first sturgeon ever!!!!!! I can't wait to go again, it was a blast.

Great thread Funeral of Hearts.  Nice Sturgeon as well! After reading this thread I now want to pick up another rod(Something heavier duty) and try fishing for sturgeon again since I haven't gone fishing for them since I was 17. (I'm 25 now so it's been a REALLY long time)

It was a little slower last weekend. The flow in the river is up and its not so easy to keep the bait still on the river bed. Still caught a few small ones though.

 quick question...can i use a whole fish as bait for sturgeon? i heard you must take the head off from another angler on the river. we looked through the synopsis and couldn't find anything on the subject, is there any regulations on how you rig your eulachon? single barb-less hook of course... heading out tomorrow

in the freshwater regulation synopsis on page 9 it says that sorry i did not clarify i am fishing below the misson bridge so it would be tidal water.  where in the tidal regulations does it say headless?

have you notice if the tide plays any role in when the bite is o?,I haven't had a ton of luck with the all mighty sturgeon and I am looking for some thing to blame it on.

I haven't noticed a difference. I've actually caught more on a dropping tide than an incoming. That being said, I believe most people say to fish the incoming.

i have noticed that depends on deep the hole is that your fishing.If its real deep it does not matter if it's shallow then it's as soon as the tides peaks and is on it's way out.

Interesting. I never thought of taking in to account the depth of the hole.
