River advocates,
Attached is the You Tube link to last night's
excellent Global TV news story on efforts to save
the "sacred headwaters" of the Skeena, Nass
and Stikine rivers in British Columbia. You'll see
interviews with Mark Angelo, Chair of the Rivers
Institute at BCIT, and others.
In response to growing pressure following the
Endangered Rivers release of a few weeks ago,
the BC government yesterday announced another
temporary extension to the moratorium on coalbed
methane development.
But the Shell tenure remains intact and full blown
development could begin in 2012.
Conservation groups are pushing for a permanent
moratorium to protect one of Canada's most
important natural landscapes.
This is quickly becoming a major environmental
issue so, for those that didn't see the news piece,
we thought you would be interested.
