Raise the sin taxes- I don't drink, but if my pack of smokes cost a buck more, I'll adjust.

Kind of unfair to make the sinners subsidize the public services of the non-sinners, isn't it?  An extra surcharge to cover the additional social costs incurred from the sin (increased police, health care, rehab, etc.) on top of the standard GST+PST/HST I can understand, but the taxes on them are out of whack for that.

And remember "No expanded casino gambling" Campbell?

That was just another "change of mind deception". Funny how that was awarded to a person with connections to the present Lairds of Liberalland. And how it was tied to the roof on BC Place.  And that meeting with Kevin Krueger was just tea and crumpets while they discussed sandwich making in Brazil, definitely not unregistered lobbying. Just a strange coincidence I suppose.;D
Jeez, I could use a reason to quit the smokes. I've been smoking since the "I'll quit when they hit a dollar a pack" days..... :(

I'm begging you to keep smoking...  It helps keep our personal income tax levels low.  ;D

Not to worry AF - I ran 5 miles this morning and I weight train in the evening. Fit and healthy despite the butts. I don't mind paying my sin taxes, but it sticks in my craw to have to pay HST on my rec center membership, common sense would dictate rewarding those that make an effort to stay healthy and not dinging them an extra 13%. Perhaps I should bring that up with the Minister of Healthy Living and Sport as I need to get some of my tax dollars out of this part of the myriad of Ministry of (inset name or phrase here) :D :D :D

13%??  I'd be mad too. All the other rec center memberships are only going up by 7%.   ???

Yep.  And that 7% comes to $24.61 on an annual membership (literally pennies a day).  That's, what, 3 or 4 packs of cigarettes?

oh, but wait- my youngest son is a big boy for his age. Since the idiot trust has decided that size, not age as the determining factor- I pay HST on all his clothes and shoes! He's 12 by the way and takes a size 11 shoe- the established size cutoff is size 6, so the moral of the story is have tiny children or find ways of making them shrink. ::) ::) ::) Yeah, that makes sense- NOT.

I really find it amusing that you "advocates" skip by obvious thorns, like the expanded gambling "change of mind deception" with a "no comment". Must have learned that at the Liberal day camp! ;D ;D ;D

But the best, by a country mile was the "change of mind deception" on MLA pensions

Any comment from the Liberal twins on this "change of mind deception" ? Does this meet the standard for liar?
Gotta admit it's hilarious watching you two saying a lie isn't a lie- it's just a change of heart. ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

I'm not impressed with the behavior of the Liberals either, but this all came about through the discussion about the HST.  A VAT makes economic sense for our Province and I support it.  I'll support it whether it is introduced by the Liberal, Greens, Conservatives or NDP.  As for politicians, I've yet to see one who is squeeky clean.  They all have an agenda and they all make decisions that are going to upset a segment of the population.  To think that they are any different is naive.  Also, like Alwaysfishin suggests, situations and conditions change, resulting a change in course for a politician.  They may have said one thing, but when facing new information, re-assess and change tack.  I expect politicians to work with updated information and make their decisions accordingly.  You call that lying, I call it adapting.  They all do it, regardless of party affiliation.

You should spend more time fishing, it'll calm your nerves.

A lie is a lie is a lie is a lie. Create as much balogna , spin it, heck throw it in the washer on spin cycle, power wash it, steam clean it. - if you do the opposite of your stated intentions- IT's A LIE.

Tell me what constitutes a lie and see if I have been confused about the words meaning??? ??? ??? ???

BTW - IF you don't stand up to being bulldozed by lies and deceit, and demand accountability and not lip service, than I sadly fear for democracy and the country.

Zalm's a disrespected nonfactor these days anyways.

As long as he just sticks to talking about the HST, and doesn't go on about his moral values and all that, there should be no reason to boo him.
