Please help - Sokeye fishing
« on: August 17, 2010, 01:20:55 PM »

Last year I learned how to catch pink and was successful with a little help from some of you.  I'm now hoping that a few of you can explain to me how everyone is catching sockeye.  All I have is a medium spinning set-up...  Any pointers would be helpful as the only sockeye that I have caught was last year on a croc. and I had to put it back...

Thanks in advance.  BTW I live in Van and do not have a boat...

Thanks people. :)

There a couple of different methods regarding how to catch sockeye.  One is partially discussed within the following thread (I dare not mention it by name on this forum  ;D ):

However, you may want to visit your local fishing shop as me thinks a 'medium spinning set-up' just may not cut it either for this method or the other.   The shop should also be able to provide you with recommendations as to the type of rod/reel combo if you want to target more than one of the salmon species methods.
