LOL!Port Alberni is
IT! Springs to great size, some of the largest coho on our Coast, sockeye in abundance, chums if you're so inclined, and a magnificent run of steelhead all wander back to the local flow, right at your toes! Inlet fishing is HOT, and river fishing often Hotter! Halibut are just a tad removed, but can be had in the Sound at times, and a run to Ukee takes but an hour. The Sound itself is a marvelous place, and loaded with fish nearly all year!
Trout you say? Over 100 lakes within an hour's hop, including several that produce absolute Monsters, the type of Biggies you won't ever see near the Big Smoke! I'm talking Nahmint rainbows to 20 plus pounds, cutthroat to better than fourteen pounds, and Brown Trout in excess of 20 pounds! And yes, all within an hours journey!
Then toss in sea run cutthroat, bass lakes an hour and change away (if you're into that) and a quick hop to the East Side provides endless enjoyment with the fly rod on pinks and cohos with the odd spring tossed in for good measure!
Yup, gotta be ol' Port Alberni!
THE most diverse fishing, the most opportunities, and something available to
SUCCESSFULLY target every single day of the year. Sorry ol' chum, anywhere even near the
Big Smoke doesn't even come close to holding a candle!
And that folks, is
EXACTLY why I live here!!
Regardless of where you vote for, just make certain it is in BC! We can't let
Points East steal this away!!
Cheers,
Nog
