Hey all,

Does anyone know of a store that carries the Matzuo sickle hooks with the 60 degree eye on them?I have found straight shanked matzuos...but nothing with a 60 degree eye.

Ive been to the one in Abbotsford...and all they have a re the straight shanked hooks.Which store have you seen them at?

I have bought them at Canadian Tire. Also bought some when I went to Cabelas in the states. I have noticed that they straighten out WAY to easily. I have lost maybe 8 or 9 fish from the hook straightening out right off the bat.

Not all stores carry them and if you do find them they will be Red in colour and only come in sizes 3/0 and up.

Looks like im going to have to order them off the internet if I want to get them in bulk.

BCfisherman97 ,were they the exact same hooks that Bent rods jigs are made out of?From their reports they have tested them on some good fighting fish without failure.

You will be very hard pressed to find the hooks that the bent rods jigs are using, but I wish you good luck.  I tried for a while and finally gave up.  There are some other heavy jig hooks on the market if you do your research and are willing to purchase out of the states.

The hooks in question are not a regular catalog item and may not even be available on custom order from what I have found.  I contacted several sellers through ebay who were selling other matzuo hooks but they could not supply the heavy gauge jig hooks in 60* or 90* configurations.  I did find a distributor that sold the large brass and silver beads that the jigs employ I will see if I can dig up the link later.

You will find threads on some other forums trying to track down appropriate jig hooks as well which may yield some useful avenues to pursue.

Retail wise you will only find the bronze or red hooks that are nowhere near as heavy gauge and are not that useful for tying jigs.

Hey Banny.....i'd be interested in the link for the brass beads. I have found 90 degree sickle hooks on some websites...but I havnt come across the 60 degree bends.

Very similar, gap is narrower on Matzuo though.
