Help! Silver Spoons
« on: September 03, 2010, 11:21:13 PM »

Hi does anyone know if just silver shiny spoons are good enough? What can you catch? I've never tried one. Thanks! :)

Yes they are good enough. I have caught many fish on a plain, sliver/nickel plated spoon: cutthroat, bull trout, coho and pink salmon, whitefish, and many coarse fish.

You don't need fancy schmancy spoons to catch fish. If the fish are feeding on baitfish, a simple spoon can be very effective.

I agree, simpler seems to be just as effective if not better than the flashier gear. I use the silver gibbs iron head spoons and assemble my own from the gear trunk at the fishing shops.

That's weird that they didn't display it on the website if it's so popular. Thanks for the answers!

I should note that the Wonder Spoon is very thin and light, and it's not recommending for casting.

some stores sell holographic cut and stick tape.   various colors,    Ask the store sales person to explain the colors for different fishes.     I experimented with this holographic stuff and it actually out fishes  plain metal.     Try it and report back to us here.

Agreed. When fishing for cutthroat off the beach, I find that a strip of sillver prism tape on my Ultras really improves their effectiveness.
