Annual reminder on break-ins.
« on: September 19, 2010, 08:51:21 AM »

Tis' the season for the low-lifes to start stalking cars along the rivers.  Perhaps a phone call to local law enforcement reminding them to start increasing patrols around popular areas wouldn't hurt.

Don't leave ANYTHING visible to theives.

No change, reciepts, coffee mugs, jackets, anything.

Maybe I have been lucky but I have never had my vehicle broken into on the river. I have parked beside vehicles that I have been able to see into and seen loose change, extra fishing gear, jackets and such. I hope by having nothing visible, a theif will pass my truck up and hit the other car that he may be able to get something out of.

Did that EXACT same thing (I always do) and I still got broken into on the Vedder in late July.  I even heard my car alarm going off and I got back to the car in a few minutes to find a window smashed and my driver door damaged.   >:(  Nothing stolen.

Print out a piece(s) of paper that says "Smile, you're on camera!", tape it on your window(s).  Drug addicts are paranoid. Chances are they'd think you might be videotaping them.

Don't even leave your insurance papers, which have your address on it. My papers were stolen along with my garage door opener to my parkade. Some thieves are looking for more than just quick cash.

we had someone break into my dads car a few years back and all they took was some change and left the rod/reel combo sitting there.
