Sumas River, October 1st 2010
« on: October 02, 2010, 10:01:40 AM »

Tossed some spoons, spinners and tried to drift fish from a boat in the Sumas. Had a few ho's chase spinners to the boat. Didn't catch anything but I did try drift fishing with a jig when the current picked up with the outgoing tide. Hooked some braided line that was still attached to a wild coho! We had seen fish flopping in one spot below and it was probably this fish. I pulled most of the line in by hand far enough to see the fish and it didn't have much fight left. Finally it snapped off as it got to the boat. Pulled up about 30 of braided line but never did see the terminal tackle. That was a first for me.

Did u catch any more ho after that ? Is the water clear ? Wonder if anyone else has tried fly fishing there and if they have what would work.
Thinking of going out there tomorrow with my kayak.

Nothing caught. Saw some at the launch in coolers though. Water is a little darker but spinners seemed the best bet with fish chasing them.
