Lafare Lake Awesome fishing
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:57:43 PM »

Lafarge lake also producing well as I landed a big 2lb fish and 2 - 1lb, both were at least over a foot long , i couldn't believe the fish can actually survive that long and get big in a lake infested with otters , hungry birds, and the poachers that change there clothes and come back 30 min later after catching there limit!!!   I caught these fish 1 day before they stocked the lake, so definitely weren't recent arrivals due to there size.  The funny thing is i went fishing 2 days after they stocked it and i never caught a single fish, its like the recent arrivals got spooked by all the new fish in the lake cruising around distracting enough to slow fishing i figure. But once they all get hungry, the slaughter fest begins and there's always crowds!!

Does anyone use any dry flies at lafarge lake??

Gotta Love tight LINES!!

I was there on Friday fishing the Northwest corner for a couple hours, but didn't get a single bite. I did notice the water was kinda of shallow in that area, and there was no shaded part.  Is the shaded areas on the south and east sides better?

I was there today avoiding the Vedder crowds and landed around 20, losing just as many and missing 3X that in strikes. Was a good day to just sit in the pontoon and relax  ;D

forget the dry fly,if all  u have is a dry line then use a bead head nymph or leech with  a long leader an ull hit fish.for wet line spratleys ,halfbacks ,leeches an wooly buggers is what i would try.

ive been using leech and woolly buggers, and dont get that many strikes but occaisionly i get a couple.
its just i see alot of guys fly fishing and using dry flys and there geting fish every cast pretty much!!!
I do not want to keep this fish, since i have no interest in trout meat. Its a shame on how many people
fill buckets and catch way over the limit. They should make these lakes catch and release for the first 2-3 months after stockings
to allow most of the fish to survive and get bigger a little longer, anything to keep the meat fisherman away.
I love fishing close to home and having a blast with tight lines!!!

So if anyone does any dry fly fishing on the local lakes, which are a good flys to choose from,
feel free just to email me, otherwise post a reply back which would be public!
Thanks

I quite often have good success with fishing chironomids in the surface film. Another dry standby is the tom thumb in very small sizes, it will usually produce fish. Don't be afraid to ask fly fishers on the water, most fly fishers are decent, friendly, helpful types.
