When the river is blown out I still fish as the fish are still there. They don't run back to the ocean to run the river again lol they stay in the river and continue their journey upstream.

Nice chanterelles. I took up picking last fall, not very successful I might add lol. Haven't gone out once this fall though, been spending my days off on the river. Altho I did pick up a couple a week ago while walking back to my car from a run

Ah yes, but I can't get to my favorite spot.  white water is not good in a canyon.

Maybe I should be researching different fishing methods instead  :P

At least i'll have lots of chanterelles to put in my turkey stuffing  8)

If you have a free weekend go up to Sloquet hot springs, between Harrison lake and Pemberton.

There is tonnes up there now, and there may be some coho and steelhead showing up in the sloquet creek :D

I caught a really nice cutty in there this summer.

My favorite river is 95% canyon and I've never had a problem finding fish still, the fish will move as the water level changes I'm sure you know. So maybe your favorite low water spot won't hold fish during high water like right now. So it might be necessary to have a favorite low water and a favorite high water spot. My favorite spot is reachable at any level as I have put in the time and bush wacking time to be sure access is available for me if I want it, however I don't actually fish my favorite spot much. I usually hop around in other pools "hunting" for the fish rather than just going to where I know they already will be. That is how you challenge yourself as an angler and increase your skills and level of ability.

The "honey do list" is always a good thing to take care of on those non fishing, non working days, that's for sure !!
