Please explain.

The water is going sooooo fast my fly doesn't go down farther than a few inches.

And that's in the slow side sections.

I'm lucky, blow conditions usually subside over night where I fish.  But it would be good to know for next time.

Ahhh - fly OK- I would(and many prolly wouldn't, so don't take this as gospel) pinch on a small piece of split shot- you can get some really tiny and variable sizes up. If the first didn't give me the big enjoy, add another. Don't pinch too tight. Maybe get the line out than to just the edge of the rip and mend your way down, staying in the edge as much as you can.
How long is your leader? Float, intermediate or full sink? What weight rod? A lot of variables.

Read the river and still fish like Nova.

Then select Fly Lines and T-Series on the left hand menu - recon the T-300 is the best all-rounder for our rivers.

Thanks for all the tips.  I'll have to go through each one and ask my questions...

Lots of spare time during my business trip..,until then it's salmon fever  :P
