Being the 13th I thought that was a reason I could not even get a bite at first light so I went and picked up some garbage for a bit, also found 3 golf balls. Actually I did not make my first cast at daylight as I tied up some roe bags to see how they would work and keep the ever present smolts at bay I also enjoyed the last few sips of coffee along with some toast, nice being so close to the river as the toast is still warm on my arrival to my recent fishing spot. Hue-nut was busy moving around trying a few different spots.
With a bag of garbage picked up including some in the river proper I slipped back out. It took a while but the bite did turn on nicely as lots of bites. I lost two good fish, type unknown. I then put on the roe bags and they worked well on jack coho anyway with several hooked and 3 hatchery landed that came home for supper. The bite was on when I left but had things to do for the Fraser River cleanup and The Paddle for next week too. Might even slip in a badminton game as well. That's before the Leaf game hits the television screen as we go for 3 straight wins to start off what will be a fabulous season for us.
The fish will still be there tomorrow anyway.
