Has any jet boat owner on here experienced porpoising problem with their boat?  Has anyone tried installing trim tabs and did it help?

Try moving some weight around, what kind of boat is it?

sign of under powering issues.  trim tabs can help as can moving weight forward.  Also, when starting out, trim all the way down and gun it.  As you come to plane, you can trim up a bit to get better ride.

Too much weight in the back.... let me guess, people sitting in back or on doghouse.......

My TJ does that if people want the wind blowing in their hair! all thw eight at the back and you lonesome up front....

It's definitely a weight issue, get more weight forward.  Also the tab at the bottom of your transom could need to be adjusted, if it is angled too high up it will cause a porpoising effect.  I am not recommending this but I have read about brand new boats from the factory needing these adjustments made, and the dealer has told the new owner to use a hammer .  How old is the TJ?

It's a 2005.

I guess first thing to do would be moving the batteries forward.  I have a 9.9 kicker mounted on a fix bracket that's almost as far out as the platform.

My 19' custom weld did that with a kicker on the back, but now with a 21' custom weld I have no problems with a kicker on the back.  It is probably a little heavier then a TJ because it has a fixed frame soft top with sliding windows.. Best advise would be to take off the kicker unless you are going to use it for the day, other wise it is just extra weight..
