Heya hue nut thx for the fish porn pics the other day it gave me hope.
I didn't get a bite on the river all season, it hurts pretty bad lol.
Don't you ever get discouraged when you get no bites?
Thx I see 2 vehicles as I pass Thompson park often. Hiking in there is worth it? Lol.

I was just kidding buddy, this time of year the fish are most likely in just about every run. Gets discouraging for sure when you get no bites but it happens to everyone

Steelheading is more about finding the fish than anything else.  It's not like salmon fishing - that's for sure!  I ran into a guy who was on his 10th trip with no fish hooked!  IMHO, it's a huge advantage if you live near the river and can fish it almost every day and get to really know the runs.  Coming in from Vancouver - I find it's tough...esp. when I've got to be home at a reasonable time to take over parenting!  LOL.  I've been out 5 times this year - hooked 3 and landed one, with two days of nada.  So don't feel too bad!   ;)

The river is perfect clear and low. Not even a nibble all day yesterday.
Was there a derby yesterday? So many anglers in the upper including myself.
Didn't see or hear of anyone catching anything. :-[
Where are the fish hiding?

As you drive up and down the river, you will see spots where there are cars parked at all times.
Normally as most fisherman don't prefer to walk long distances from their cars, those areas are good spots to check out.
When you see people hook or land fish make a mental note of the spot so that you could comeback later to fish that spot.
Also, don't be afraid to ask people on the river for advice, many times they will tell you some good spots to try out.
However, asking those same questions on the internet would not get you very far.

Lower started ok in morn... around 2 ft.
Left lower at around 9 to see tamihi was almost brown. 0 vis.
Slab and Ranger was around 5-6 ft visi (green tint).
Borden to Allison around 2-3 feet visi and a cloudy green colour.

On way back down lower now totally out from Allison down, 0 vis and super grey, almost brown.

While picking up 3 garbage bags full of garbage near the Hydro Bridge this morning the river was high and muddy.

This morning (around 7~9 am), the river was brown from canal up to the slab.
Likely will take a few days for this to clear up. Good thing was no rain this morning.
Left the river early as no point in fishing under these conditions.

I second that! made the drive from North Van at first light. Lower was Choc milk, Borden Creek was dirty as well with maybe 6 inches vis. Save the gas and wait a day or two.
