latimer lake

just wanted to know if anyone has fished latimer lake in surrey,also curios about what spieces of fish reside in this water.thanxs

I start to fished there back in 1977 when it was first stock there. I remember the daily limit was 8 trouts a day and I was just using single egg or earth worms on fishing on the bottom.

Last time I was there must being 6 years ago and I was fly fishing from my belly boat. Had lots fun back then.

ive seen pics if bass out of there and heard of a few people catching lots of bass in there

Took a look few years ago and just one guy was fishing and he had caught a bucket load of baby carp...like 30-40 of them.

I'm sure there are some kind of fish in there still and now-springtime would probably be a good time to try it as it gets choked by weeds and gets very stagnant during the warmer weather.

bass heaven, a good place for them if they cant get into any salmon bearing stream...

Was in the area last week so I took a look at the lake.  I am happy to report that it looks GREAT.

Area has been cleaned up and the water levels are up and clear.

Did not fish it was raining to hard.

If I'm not mistaken, Latimer pond is on like 192 & 24th ave in Langley? Is belly tubing feasible in there, or is it too shallow? I don't know if I'd bother targeting carp, but I'd love to try for bass.

I used to float tube in Latimer all the time before it lost its trout population  :'( I have seen canoes, small tin boats, dinghys and pontoons in there also.

Friends and I used to called it Stokes or Dekes Pitt.  Not sure why.  Was a very popular fishery for all ages. 

Fished it all the time years ago, generally from a float tube.  Chironomids in the spring were deadly.  As summer approached, the waters would drop, the weed growth came and there were not too many trout around.  Lots of Pumpkinseed Sunfish though as well as carp.

I may be mistaken, but doesn't Latimer drian into  the Little Campbell river? Which is a salmon bearing stream

Yes possible to boat in there but really unnecessary.

Latimer Lake is an abandoned gravel pit with no inflow or outflow as far as I know.  There is a Latimer Creek but it is not connected to the lake.

well back when it got stocked having a boat actually made a huge difference to get away from all the people around its shores. Also was basically the only way you could fly fish there  ;D
