keep an eye out for these steelhead

Attention Anglers
The BC Conservation Foundation along with the BC Ministry of Environment, BC Hydro
and Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC has initiated a steelhead study on the Stave River.
Hatchery steelhead smolts that have been differentially marked with a maxillary (jaw)
and adipose fin clips were held in Hayward Lake for up to three months to increase
homing ability. The winter of 2011 will be the first year of returning differentially
marked adults.
BCCF is seeking voluntary angler assistance in assessing the return rate of the
maxillary and adipose clipped steelhead compared to standard adipose clipped and wild
steelhead.
Angler assistance will include :
1) Recording catch and amount of time spend fishing
2) Visual record (picture) of each steelhead caught to assess presence of clips (if
possible)
3) Notifying BCCF staff of success rate
If anglers would like to be involved or require further information regarding the project
please contact,
Kenji Miyazaki or Dave Harper,
