Yeah it was definitely clear and VERY cold friday, but it payed off. Didn't have to fish too long to find a fish.
I thought it would probably be my last report for february as I didn't think I would have time to make it back to the river. Things changed, and I was out and about in the snow this morning on my way back to the river. There were a few people out but it looked like the snow scared away a lot of people this morning.
I headed back to the same area I pulled a fish from Friday. Was nice and quiet with nobody around and the snow falling. There is something about steelheading in the snow that just feels right. I began working slowly through the run. Little while later, fish on! Another good battle produced a 7-8ish lb wild buck, showing his spawning colors. I popped the hook and away he went. Awesome I thought, back to back fish days. A couple sips of coffee and I was back fishing. About ten minutes later, fish on again! Another battle brings a wild doe to hand of 10-11ish lbs, this one chrome as can possibly be. In knee deep water I grasped her by the tail, popped the hook, put my rod down and was just turning my camera on when she wiggled free and took off. No pictures today but no worries either, the memory remains of a great morning.
I fished for a couple hours after, there and another area, but that was it for me. A couple great back to back times on the river. Definitely broke the new reel in right this weekend. Hope the week goes fast so I can get back out there.
