Anyhoo, back to real hockey talk I posted something on the globe and mail forum, where I spend most of my hockey chat. I feel bad for Jumbo Joe getting carved up by the media.
Its too bad for him. I liken him to Henrik, only bigger.
Both slow the pace of the game, control the puck, allow the defender to initiate contact, spin off, protect the puck, make plays/passes on the back hand better than pretty much anyone else in the game.
The difference?
Hank has Daniel that shoots with a high percentage and can play catch better than anyone Joe has. Further, Hank has a relentless, tireless, gutsy, puck pursuit player in Burrows retrieving broken play pucks and posting up in the slot, stick down, ready for the invetible tape to tape pass. And can finish and help make room out there.
Joe has guys with no heart, no desire, no will to sacrifice, cycling through on his flanks. Too bad, he is a good player, but can only do much as he doesn't have the speed or shot to dominate a game on his own.
