I have recently became more interested in the advantages of split shot versus pencil lead. I know it has been heavily debated before.

I found this article on the Raven website. It has some interesting shot patterns I have never thought of.

Yeah someone who spends a lot of time fishing slow low water has time to think about details the rest of us who fish bigger faster water couldn't care less about.

after watching that i think ill fish pencil lead... who wants to re tie and taper their shot all the time...it takes forever

I like the concept of the easily adjustable shot line.

However, every split shot on the line is yet another weak point between the rod tip and the fish. I wonder if it would make sense to build the shot line with a stronger pound test to compensate for the damage the split shots cause to the line when tightened along it.

For the time being, the trusted slinky is still the best option in my books (although not nearly as flexible).

It will continue to be pencil lead for me.The slight disadvantage in some situation's is far outweighed by the savings in other tackle.
