Bungee cord for landing net
« on: June 26, 2011, 05:40:51 PM »

Looking to replace the bungee cord in my small landing net that has lost its "strectchiness". Have tried several outdoor and fishing stores with no luck. Any suggestions?

Steveston Marine in Vancouver used to carry a few different kinds of bungee cord and Mountain Equipment Coop used to as well haven't checked in a few years though.

Mountain Equipment Coop in Vancouver definitely has it. Next to the climbing stuff. You can also get the spring clips that attach very easily to the ends of the bungee chord so no knots required. I use it to make tender straps for my oars on my pontoon boat, so it should be plenty strong for your net.

The waist band from defunct underware would work too.

Thanks for the replies all. Some good suggestions, although I might draw the line at underwear waist band...

Hey Geoff T, do you use surgical tubing for everything?! ;) http://www.fishingwithrod.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=25085.0

you can always use lawn-mower start-up cord. thats works decently enough. they sell it at any decent home-hardware store.
