Getting ready for my first trip to Brownsville Bar
« on: July 21, 2011, 02:04:36 PM »

As the title says i am going to go out on Friday for my first trip with my buddy to Brownsville. I believe i have all my gear and goodies. Just wanted to know if anyone with experience can offer any tips on that location beside watch out for crack heads, lol.
I checked the tides as well and am coordinating the right time to be there fishing.
Thanks in advance.

I fished there several years ago now to be able to remember how far out but there is a sloping ledge 50 to 100 feet from the shore.

You don't want your bait to be on the ledge and it could be best above or below it depending on the direction of the tide.

You might want to take a look at a very low tide to check it out.

It's now called crack head ledge. Just trip your offering over the side for some sweetness. Also keep a good eye on your vehicle.

Also keep a good eye on your vehicle.

2X

Also, beware of the train crossing as there's no signal/gate/sign at the parking exit. It's terribly dangerous...
Let us know how the fishing goes ;)

I think you want to be there as high tide comes in.  High tide is at 1:51pm on Saturday.  So, maybe fish the two hours before and up to 2pm.

I agree that maybe  you should head out there at low tide and check out the slope.

well i didn't catch anything but i ran into 3 other guys from this website there and had a great time learning a bunch of tips and ideas from them. I did get to watch one nice jack spring get caught though, not by me.  >:(
All in all it was a fun day and now that i am a bit more experienced in this technique the big ones better be hiding good next time they see me there.
Thanks for all the tips guys, who i didn't catch the names of, sorry.

I agree that maybe  you should head out there at low tide and check out the slope.

With the freshet at, or near it's peak, going there a low tide wold be a exercise in futility.
