Last night I was to attend an information meeting in Hope with those from Salmon Are Sacred, headed by Alexandra Morton.
There was 5 of us there and we were treated to a great feast by the Chawathil Band. Of course fish was on the menu and many other great treats. Even though I was fighting a terrible cold the food was most welcome. I was there to do t filming as I post many of the rallies on u tube.
As my time is short on the library computer I will move on to a brief fishing report. After a bit of a restless night in Yale and breakfast there I finally got to my first fishing spots and I landed the biggest Dolly Varden for me, about 4 pounds a couple of pictures and it was on its way. As it is bear country I kept a look out for one of them to pay me a visit. They are feeding on wild cherries now.
Next I was into a large pike minnow followed by a 14 inch cutthroat. No salmon seemed to be in the offering so at 1 I headed for the Thompson which I will try after a coffee here in Lytton. Weather is sunny, windy and mild. The dry air seems to make my cold a bit better.
I hope for a jack chinook or two but the Thompson may be still a bit high for my favorite spots. Stay tuned for a report.
