VOLUNTEER NEEDED - Take some deserving kids fishing
« on: August 13, 2011, 09:03:00 AM »

 Hey guys,

I was slated to take out some kids from the Richmond Addictions Center next tuesday, but due to extenuating circumstances I will not be able to.  All they wanted to do was go fish Garry Point and nail a couple bullheads.  These are young children living with friends/relatives who have severe substance abuse issues.  I can't think of a more needy bunch, and it hurts to think that they won't get to go fishing now.

Is there anybody out there who is looking to do a good deed, and can take these kids out?  It is on Tuesday in the afternoon, for just a couple hours off of Garry Point.  All they want to do is escape for a while and catch some fish!

Thanks guys,

John

Good cause. If my skill and abilities were better and I had more experience catching fish on my own, I would gladly step up to this. My mom is 8 years clean and I am very comfortable in the world of recovery. Sure hope someone is able to do this though.

Appreciate the kind words, man.  All they're doing is fishing for pikeminnow, chub, bullheads, whatever they can pull outta there.

Unfortunately it does, the group meets on Tuesdays

No worries friend. Although I understand its pretty easy stuff, I still have yet to pull any of those! The rainbow trout in my avatar, and another about the same size are all Ive gotten in my life! So I am still fairly new.

I actually know a guy that is in Recovery and fishes a bit. He might be up for this, I am not sure. Do you need to provide transportation and equipment on these outings, or do they have everything they need?

The kids have equipment, but I would suggest bringing a rod yourself in case the action heats up!  The kids have transportation, so he is covered there.

Pretty much.  And maybe give them a little fishing knowledge while you're at it
